Clothing range launched for poultry

Could this be the future for chickens?

This slightly weird clothing range has been released by a group of designers working in Austria and Japan.

He is promoting the range on his website, www.chickenssuit.com, and a fashion show is now touring the world.

Several farmers have already had chicken suits with the name of their farm ordered and many advertisers have enquired about the possibility of having sponsored suits promoting everything from KFC to chicken soup.

The chicken suits come in various sizes, and had their first presentation in the Austrian pavilion of the World exhibition in Nagoya, Japan, where 20 chickens paraded a catwalk with Mozart music playing in the background.

To be honest I think the idea is mad and and just a little pointless , but I must admit that chicken looks kind of funky in that little suit.

Poem of the month

This appeared in the April 1921 edition of 'The Poultry Item'.

“These modern methods make me sick”
Thus spake old Biddy Dominick“
We used to please ourselves you bet,
Folks took what fresh eggs they could get,
But now we stay up half the nightand lay our eggs by Mazda light.
This culling also I protest,I'm getting old, I want to rest.
Yet if in laying I grow lax
I'll be the next to get the axe.

bald chicken

'
Scientists have bred a controversial
featherless chicken which they say is
faster growing.'BBC news

Experts say it will not need plucking
and will be able to stay cool in very
hot countries...
It is also claimed that removing feathers
will cut down on pollution caused by the
plucking process.

'animal welfare groups warned that feathers
were important to help protect the birds
from parasites - and that the featherless
chickens were likely to suffer sunburn.
In addition, male chickens might not be
able to mate, they argued.' BBC news
